if you watched the olympic opening ceremonies last night, i would be interested to know your impressions. first of all, you canadians are so lucky as you got them with video descriptions. all us in the united states got was meredith and mat's lame comments. for all the value they added to my life they could have gone out to dinner and saved nbc a basket full of money. what really bugged me was this. in the us, at the beginning there were a british mand and woman reading a lame script. one of the lines was something about a young man being b orn broken but he never isses the mark. now, we all know they are referring to the low vision archer from korea. excuse me, but do you other blind folks feel like you weren't assembled right? do you want your warranty examineed? i mean excuse me but i was totally too through. also the paco bell music guy who did the score gave a me a bad headache. i fell asleep in disgust. oh and finally what did sir paul sing? does he still sound good? any answers or opinion would be mossed appreciated.

Paul sang Hey Jude. I imagine he picked that because it is one of his most recognizable songs, and being that I'm sure lots of people who are too young to remember the Beatles wouldn't have even known who he was if he had sung a new song. He sounded pretty good, but there was a lot of emotion in his voice at the beginning.

I read an account in a newspaper of the film clip where Queen Elizabeth met Daniel Craig, who has played James Bond in recent movies, and I have to admit that was pretty clever. Apparently it was filmed back in early spring. It showed Daniel, as James Bond meeting the queen in the palace. From that point, stunt doubles played the two getting into a helicopter and parachuting out over the stadium. Then the queen appeared in the Olympic stadium just as if she had really jumped out of the copter.

As for the rest of it, I agree, audio description would have been nice.

I always enjoy the march of the athletes into the stadium because I like hearing the tidbits of information about the various countries and the athletes representing them.

So overall, I guess I enjoyed it more than you did.

i did enjoy the cerimony.

the part of it where each country was introduced individually bored me senseless. but the rest of it was really good- especially the live performance from the artic monkeys (i like that group) and also the speech by the chairman of the games.

I didn't watch the olympics, and don't plan to. like turricane, I'm not into them.

i can see libra lady why they picked hey jude but it was my least favorite beatles song. i'd have likes something from abby road myself but who the heck am I?
